HomeBIRD OF A FEATHER REALLY DO FLOCK TOGETHERFeb 23, 2008
My family has always called the projects I create "my crafts". In reality, they are really a life line for me. I seek praise for, and have great satisfaction in a project well completed. I give lavish praise for the completed projects of others. Even if their creation is not especially appealing to me, I can always see the skill it took to create it. Those with the desire to create are "birds of a feather".

Hi. Life is so busy. I follow all the multiply posts and visit pages, but haven't been active here. Partly because of family situations and partly because summer is here and my yard beckons!. We have about 1/2 acre. Being in Northern Indiana, we are not receiving the rain that most of the Midwest is getting, but we have had rain almost every day for more than a month. Its either overcast all day, or thunderstorms move in and out throughout the day! Makes it hard to keep up with weeds and plant and finish a pond we are trying to put in my critter habitat.

I am going to participate in the Bead Journal Project and have set up a blog on blogspot. Somehow, I find it the easiest place to manuver around, and most participants will display their work on a blogspot blog. I mentioned to you before that I admire your photography, and have begun to take pics around my yard. My blogspot page was started to accomodate the BJP, however until then I have been posting about what I find entertaining at my own home. Please visit. I am am so proud of my page, and I should have invited you sooner. You really have been an inspiration for me to learn to use my camera.

Actually, things are pretty good. I am so looking forward to Spring. Not much sun in northern Indiana right now, but when it does, I just stand in front of the window with my face to the sun feeling the warmth.

I am itching to get outside to work in the yard. Our house is small, on about 3/4 acre. I have a small pond and we are putting in another this summer. One more accessible to wild life. I love to see the birds bath and squirrels come down for a drink. I have a vision of a quiet spot to visit, read, watch life go by. Nature is so entertaining! I work at keeping 1/2 of the yard gardened to attract critters and birds. Well, moving on now so I can get back to my bracelet. Hope to have it done by the weekend and pictures posted.- C

Hi friend...how's things going in your neck of the woods?

Hi again. Well...bead embroidery, hmm? Sounds lovely...I am new at this beading thing - Celticat is to blame for that, hee-hee (grin)...I am soo hooked now...but what I do is jewelery thus far...I like working with semi-precious gems, pearls, silver and copper. I spent a bundle the past few months bringing up my supplies up to snuff so I can really let the creative juices flow...I have made several pieces - most, quite delicate - chokers primarily - and am discovering the mysteries of metaphysical meanings of gems - which adds to the fun....speaking of which, I am having some - :>)
I find beading relaxing and very rewarding personally. I am a knitter and a bit of a crocheter, as well - all learned over the past few years...I used to market my knit things at farmers markets - was busy making consignment orders for snow-boarders, etc. (have not knit a whole lot since taking up beading) - I have several projects on the go, which is the norm for me. I understand wanting to leave things for your daughter...I have a beautiful old hand-embroidered apron that my granny had made when she was in her early thirties...she passed on at the age of 90, several years back. This apron is precious, as you can well imagine. I just sent my daughter a necklace I made - of red carnelian, black onyx and sterling silver..I will try to put up some pics on my blog when I get enough worth putting up, so you can see where I'm at with things. I really enjoy and appreciate seeing others work - color is huge with me - I love arts of all kinds - beads, gems, textiles, architecture - you name it. There! How's that for a huge mouth-full of getting to know me?? Have a great one!

We just got about 6" and more to come, but we missed a huge dump that went west of South Bend--15" Lake effect-Thank God. I need some sun. I have been trying to master bead embroidery. I'm ok with it. Just about finished a 1-1/2" cuff, but wasn't happy with the way the beads laid on the curve around the wrist so I took it apart and started over last night. I've done a lot of bead embroidery on clothes and crazy quilts, but this is just a little different and I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I'm going to perfect this because I would like to make a mask for my daughter for Christmas. She collects oriental items and uses it in her living room decor. She has some wonderful antique and occupied Japan items that you would not belief. I know she would treasure a mask from me. I have given her many of my creations over the years-I have a diverse array of skills; Sewing, crochet, bead stringing and embroidery are my favorites. As I get older, it seems more important to be sure that she has unique items that I have made illistrating the best of my skills. I guess that's because I treasure the crocheted items that my grandmother gave to me, and the embroidered linens that my mother made.

Boy, didn't think you were going to get a book, did you! 3, count em, 3 days to March. Come on Spring! Have a great day.

Just popping by to say hi & see how are you are. Our snow has all but melted here in CT. How's it looking your way? Are you working on any interesting project(s)?

Oh, I know that. You are the busiest beader I know. You should give lessons on how to promote yourself! Well, look out, I'm getting a snowstorm in Indiana right now that is probably headed your way.
